Well there is Ferrari, Maserati and of course the Vespa as Italian motor Icons but lets not forget the 'Italian family car ' il Fiat 500. My childhood memories of going to Italy were about days at the beach, great meals and all our cousins cramming into my uncles Fiat 500 to go to the local gelateria... Thinking back I have no idea how we all got in there.
But the Fiat 500 is also a car that conjures up images of a more sophisticated Italy: a beautifully dressed italian woman effortlessly parking her Fiat 500 in an impossible parking spot and making a graceful exit in her Gucci attire, and Prada shades.

The new Fiat 500 has arrived and over the past 2 weeks since it's official launch it's been getting a lot of attention. It has a funky new design and is hailed as the car that will kick start the Italian auto industry. And if past Italian trends continue this new 500 will do very well... Not to mention it's great on gas and that's always a good thing when gas prices in Italy are around 1.25 euros a litre.
Who knows maybe I'll boot around in one of these beauties for DRDV #4 and write about the drive in a future blog.
